Embracing Openness: Open Data and Open Access for Research and Innovation

Embracing Openness: Open Data and Open Access for Research and Innovation Online

About Embracing Openness

Engaging in open research practices such as sharing data, methodologies, and findings, has become increasingly essential in today's research landscape. Research funders, journals, and scientific communities now place higher expectations on transparency and reproducibility of research results. As the open scholarship movement gains momentum, researchers may encounter challenges navigating the intricacies of open data practices and open access publishing.

To address these challenges, we have organized an interactive session aimed at helping researchers understand the benefits of open data and open access in advancing research and fostering innovation.

During this session, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore best practices for ethical data curation,
  • Receive an introduction to publishing in data repositories,
  • Gain practical knowledge on evaluating open access journals,
  • Receive guidance on where to seek funding support for open access publishing, and
  • Learn about self-archiving work in CSU's institutional repository, Mountain Scholar
