Exhibition: I am what I am by Seojung Lee
About This Exhibition
This exhibition is located in Morgan Library, on the south side of the second floor near room 203. The exhibition runs from March 2024 to March 2025.
I am who I am where I am, by Master of Fine Arts candidate Seojung Lee, is the first exhibition of a series to show how the CSU Libraries is an indispensible ally for students embarking on artistic and scientific journeys. Librarians and archivists work with students to connect them with our extensive collection of digital and print books, journals, databases and multimedia resources. With this support, students can delve into various subjects, expanding their knowledge base and fostering critical thinking skills.
For Lee's exhibition, the Libraries' physical objects, such as books, photographs, and rare manuscripts, enriched the creative process of this art project.
The tactile experience of handling an original artwork, flipping through the pages of an antique sketchbook, or studying the texture and composition of a photographic print adds a dimension to research that cannot be replicated digitally.
These physical artifacts not only provide firsthand encounters with artistic masterpieces, but also offer insights into historical techniqueses, materials, and contexts that shape artistic practices. They enhance students' research and creative processes, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the art they study and create.
