Migrating to ArcGIS Pro In-Person
About This Event
Still using ArcMap? It’s time to migrate to ArcGIS Pro.
Esri will soon be retiring ArcGIS Desktop 10.x (ArcMap). Starting in March, ArcMap switched to “Mature Support,” the last step before retirement in 2026. And at academic institutions, ArcMap licenses are now mostly unavailable. So it’s time to migrate to ArcGIS Pro. In this 6-hour workshop, get to know ArcGIS Pro so you can be successful in your everyday workflows. The updated interface may be very different, but the learning curve is short.
Topics covered
- Licensing and installation
- Navigating the new interface
- New cartography and symbolization options
- Creating map layouts (including multiple layouts within one project!)
- Making selections, basic geoprocessing
- New workflows for creating and editing data
- Integration with ArcGIS Online for retrieving and publishing data and maps
Pre-Requisites
This class will be taught in a computer lab with ArcGIS Pro software. Guest Esri logins will be provided, or you can use your own Esri account. Attendees may also bring their own laptop with ArcGIS Pro installed, if they wish.

This workshop is designed for those with GIS and ArcMap experience, who need to learn the newer ArcGIS Pro software. We will make many comparisons between the two programs, and get to know the new interface and workflows. Open to all, from CSU or the local GIS community.
