AI Profiling: Bias and Stereotype in AI-Generated Content Online
Although technology is often considered neutral and unbiased, there is increasing evidence of harmful stereotypes and biases showing up in AI-generated content.
In this workshop, we'll examine examples of bias in content generated by AI and related systems, including data collected as part of an original CSU research project utilizing ChatGPT. We'll also discuss the mechanisms by which bias can appear in AI-generated content, such as bias in the training text and disproportionate representation of certain voices.
In this workshop, you'll gain insights into:
- What bias in AI/machine-generated content might look like
- How bias appears in LLMs (large language models), search algorithms, and information systems
- Possible steps to evaluate content, identify bias, and mitigate bias
